DOHA – Work has begun to construct WTC Doha, a 50-story tower with 42 floors of office space, a business club, four floors of conference space and four floors below grade for parking and services.  There will also be a Sphere Structure that will house a muilti-purpose auditorium for a total floor area of about 142,000 square meters.

Building plans were announced at a June 27 press conference where the construction contract was signed by the project owner, Qatar General Insurance & Reinsurance Company and principal contractor Arabtec Construction Company.  The ceremony was held in the presence of Sheikh Nasser Bin Ali Al Thani, chairman of Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance, Mr. Riad Kamal, chairman of Arabtec and senior officials of the two companies.  Construction is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2012.
